The use of online media by online communities

I have recently come across a study based on social network usage. It explores the different target audiences that engage with social media. The purpose of the study was to breaks down different target audiences according to age groups and gender. Pingdom has explored different sites that are trending online and most used by online communities. Pingdom is one of the leading tech. companies that monitor websites that are most visited by online communities.

The sites included in this survey are: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Tumblr, Reddit, Hacker News, Slashdot, Github, WordPress.com, Blogger, Flickr, MySpace, LiveJournal.

The study proves that different age groups communicate differently on social media sites. What caught my attention is the 18-24 years age group. The study proves that teenagers and young adults are the age group most prevalent social media sites. This study actually adds to my group discussion that I did for my situation analysis in support of my research paper. The sample of the group discussion was mostly teenagers and young adults age 18-24 years old. Teenagers communicate differently on social media sites and the content they browse differs from the other age groups. Most teenagers use the cell-phone as a constant companion! It is like the cell-phone has become an extension to their body. Teens use their cell phone while in the bathroom.
What is your weirdest place you ever used your cell phone?
